Purple Heart Trail, Blue and Green branches reconnaisance April 22nd, 2018
Great day for a hike along the blue, red, and and green loops.
1. Starting from Northwest Trailhead off Butterfly road, discussed whether to add sign.
2. Came upon first bridge (metal) in good shape.
3. Second bridge at turn is broken. There is an option to walk around the small inlet of water, but it is not marked.
General agreement wooden bridge can be repaired. Bridge has to be at least 12 feet long for crossing and is about 2' 6"" wide.
Old telephone pole on side of path is an alternative or backup.
Pics 1 and 2.

4. Sign at Tee Junction (pic 3) is in good shape. Trail map is no longer bowed thanks to Ken's "MacGyver" moves to remove a small whiskey bottle lodged behind the sign.
5. Continued up Red Trail to junction for Green Loop (pic4) Dan had to leave us .. we hope you enjoyed the symphony Dan!
Discussed possibility of adding a small sign at this junction.
6. Fairly quickly came upon tree across path (pic5). Path narrows with high grass.
7. Continued on green loop around East Cranberry Bog. Found garbage including old tires and other debris at turn (pic 6).
More downed tree branches, but also some beautiful green moss, almost like a carpet.
8. Ended trip with great spotting of white crane (pic 7).
Great photos and commentary!
